17th Congress on the Protection of Classified Information, Business Information and Personal Data

The 17th Congress on the Protection of Classified Information, Business Information and Personal Data', organised by the National Association for the Protection of Classified Information, was held on 3-5 June this year in Bielsko-Biała. This cyclical educational event of significant importance and impact on the state of security of the country, companies, institutions and citizens has been held since 2005.

During the congress, Konrad Komornicki, Deputy President of the Personal Data Protection Office, gave a lecture on 'Challenges and threats to the protection of personal data in relation to the development of modern technologies, especially artificial intelligence'. He also took part in a scientific debate on the rank and importance of knowledge and the formation of awareness of the protection/threats to information - especially classified information and personal data - of a modern civil society.

"The dynamic development of new technologies, with a particular focus on artificial intelligence, is generating a number of serious challenges and risks for the protection of personal data. Today, more than ever, we need to remember about it if we want to effectively take care of data security. It is also worth remembering that data protection, especially personal data protection, is an integral part of our country's security." Said Konrad Komornicki, deputy president of the Personal Data Protection Office.

The Congress was attended by, among others, the Secretary of State at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, representatives of universities, heads of public and private sector organisational units, data protection officers, military and secret service officers.

As the organisers of the event point out, the 17th Congress had a unique dimension to economic security due to the losses suffered from pandemics, crisis events, the unpredictability of the war in Ukraine, threats of domestic and foreign competition, hostile secret services, organised crime groups and cyber threats.
