Students were introduced to the day-to-day work of the Personal Data Protection Office
The winners of the 12th edition of the essay competition for law and administration students have completed their participation in a two-week training programme at the Personal Data Protection Office.
The competition was intended for third- to fifth-year students and first- to third-year second-cycle students of law and administration. This year's edition focused on the topic of new technologies, including the use of artificial intelligence algorithms in recruitment processes.
As part of the special award, the awarded students were able to participate in a two-week training programme, which included learning about the specific work of the various departments and the tasks that employees of the office face on a daily basis. Imposing and calculating administrative fines, infringements and inspections, how to effectively file a complaint with the Personal Data Protection Office, the process of creating codes and certifications, issues of new technologies and information security - these were just some of the issues they had time to familiarise themselves with during the two-week programme.
At the end of the programme, the participants met with Mirosław Wróblewski, President of the Personal Data Protection Office, Agnieszka Grzelak, Deputy President of the Personal Data Protection Office, and with the staff who accompanied them for a two-week period in order to get to know the Personal Data Protection Office. ‘It is my understanding that from now you will be ambassadors of the Personal Data Protection Office and of the protection of personal data, said the President of the Personal Data Protection Office, thanking the participants for their participation in the initiative. The participants were also invited to continue their cooperation in educational and social projects undertaken by the Personal Data Protection Office.
‘We are very satisfied. We had a chance to meet the staff of the Personal Data Protection Office in person and see what their daily duties look like. We really enjoyed the practical aspects of the work of the Personal Data Protection Office - presentation classes, solving case studies. We gained a lot of such knowledge that we would not have gained from textbooks or other materials. It's good to broaden your knowledge with something that is not so easily accessible.’ - competition winners summed up their impressions.
