The future of quantum technology – President of the Personal Data Protection Office at a conference
On 6 September, a conference on quantum technologies was held at the University of Gdańsk. The event was attended by the President of the Personal Data Protection Office, Mirosław Wróblewski.
The conference had an interdisciplinary character. Prominent representatives from many fields – both technical and social sciences – tried to answer the most current questions related to the development and future of this technology.
During his speech, Mirosław Wróblewski emphasized that the Office monitors the issue of new technologies on an ongoing basis and reminded about the conference "Man in post-quantum reality" organized by the Personal Data Protection Office.
"We follow the development of quantum technologies that may have a particular impact on privacy and personal data protection. We are also following closely the implementation of strategies related to post-quantum encryption," said Mirosław Wróblewski, referring to the recommendations developed by the European Commission to support EU countries in the transition to post-quantum cryptography.
The President of the Personal Data Protection Office also reminded that one of the obligations of controllers and processors is to implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to ensure the security of data processing processes. "The tasks related to the implementation of the obligation under Article 32 of the GDPR do not allow you to stay still. All entities involved in processes related to data processing should carefully follow the latest trends related to ensuring information security," emphasized the President of the Personal Data Protection Office in his speech.
The conference and panel discussion were also attended by Roman Bieda, attorney-at-law, a member of the Social Team of Experts at the President of the Personal Data Protection Office, who presented the issue of the development of quantum technology from the point of view of legal regulations.
